At least 167 people have died in landslides and floods after Tropical Storm Megi devastated the Philippines last Sunday. A further 1.9 million people are adversely affected. Megi comes about four months after Super Typhoon Rai devastated many of the nationβs southeast islands last December. Scientists say human-caused climate change has led to greater intensity and power in tropical storms.
FDA investigating Lucky Charms after reports of illness
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is investigating Lucky Charms after it received more than 100 complaints related to the popular cereal brand this past year. Several hundred people have also posted on iwaspoisoned.com, a food safety website, complaining of nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting after eating Lucky Charms. General Mills Inc., the company that makes Lucky Charms, said its own investigation found no evidence of consumer illness linked to the cereal.
South Korea to remove most virus restrictions as omicron shows
South Korea will remove most pandemic restrictions as it slowly wiggles out of an omicron outbreak. Authorities will remove outdoor mask mandates, a 10-person limit on private social gatherings, and a midnight curfew at restaurants, cafes, and other indoor businesses.
